Holiday House Atlanta

I stayed home from church on Sunday December 6th and watched the house show that comes on TV about exquisite homes. I saw this about builder Steve West. Then I saw the web address for the Atlanta Holiday House. I went to the web site and saw that they were asking for volunteers. I signed up and Trisha called me. My first day was Wednesday Dec 9th. I enjoyed it and went back on the 11th and helped with the party Saturday night.

Merry Christmas and go see the house.

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!
Our day started Wednesday at 10 am. We cleaned and prepared for the arrival of our guests. I set the table - yes I put out the china and the silver!! We waited for Papa and Dean to arrive. Scott said he would come late on Wednesday evening. Papa and Dean got here while we were out picking up the greens for Thursday dinner. Papa forgot he had a key so I reminded him and they let themselves in. We got back soon after and Dean was already fishing on his internet dating site. He had hooked him one and was on his way to meet her. I stayed up all night. Took a nap at 6:30 and got up at 7:30, then stayed up all day long until 2:30a on Friday morning. Reminds me of the days where I worked at the hospital. We had lots of food. We all ate drank and had a great time.
This is the habitat 2009 project that Dan helped with. He coordinated the helpers that St. Benedict's provided.

Nov 1, 2009

The Day finally came. We finally got to worship in our new church built on an old rock!
With a temporary CO granted graciously by the commissioners of Cobb county we held services in our new facility. We were all so happy. With two services on at 8 a.m. and the other at 10:30 am with Sunday School in between. We had 78 people in the first 8 am service and approximately 375 in the 10:30 service. We had over 40 children in Children's church and it was so nice to see them march into the new nave. Our month is starting off wonderfully. On Thursday, Nov 5th we will have a book signing and reception for our Presiding Bishop Katherine.

Enjoy the photos!

Happy Halloween

Hope you are having fun!!!!

Victoria did clean her room enough to go trick or treating!!!!

Dance little Dancer Dance

She loves to dance.

More Dancing

Victoria had a blast dancing with everyone. Here is more.

The Dance

Here is the video I tried to post earlier this month and couldn't. You may have caught it on Facebook. If not here it is: Victoria is dancing at the grand opening of Lenbrook with one of there handsome residents Mr. Oliver.

Wow! I think I have the video back!

After scouring through the blogs and techy papers I had to make some changes and now they say it should work. Stay tuned for some video posts. We got Dancing and wedding posts to put on here. Will try to deliver this weekend. Have a good one and Share your comments.
Victoria and I just got back from Chick-fil-a where we saw the Hands Up puppet ministry from Milford Baptist Church.

Blogger has taken away our video upload

There seems to be something going on with Blogger and video so click on the above link and see it on Facebook.   Sorry for the inconvenience I miss the video concept

Madison Birthday

Madison opening presents and modeling them on Dale.

Victoria trying on the dress

We took a trip to Town Center Mall and went to David's Bridal Shop for Victoria to try on the dress she is to wear in her cousin, Honora Gathings' wedding. They only had sizes 3 & 6. The six was too big. The three fit good if she was wearing it tomorrow. She is petite and has height. So the question is will she take a four come next April? Will she grow any more in height? She hardly eats so will she gain any weight? Hopefully, Honora will see this video of the dress and let us know if this is what she envisions for her perfect day!

Maddies Birthday

September 29 nine years ago a two pounder came in to this world as a miracle to her mother and father.  Since that time she has blessed everyone she has came in contact with.  Especially her pony "Daisy".  Tonight 10-03-09 we celebrated her birthday at "Country Girls" Cafe on Hwy 67 in Bulloch County GA.  Mamma, Buddy, Gene, Rhonda and Victoria joined Maddie with her parents Joe and Dale.  We enjoyed a wonderful meal.  Maddie opened her presents and we had a wonderful cake that was baked by one of the patients at Maddie's mother's office.

Happy Birthday Maddie!!   We Love You!

Happy Birthday Victoria!

Wow! Wednesday brings the sixth birthday of our Victoria! Hard to believe that six years ago I was blessed to give birth to a beautiful baby girl.

We didn't have a large number of people but we had a great time with the ones that did come.

Dan's Habitat project with St. B's

He is assisting with Habitat for Humanity.

He will be there again this week also.

Second Day of School reporting in!

Well, we did good!!
She was up at 6am. Dressed and down stairs ready to go at 6:35 am. I had packed her back pack with supplies requested by the school. She had to carry in her hands the boxes of tissues and Nap Mat. She was loaded. Hallelujah it all made it to school (or so she said it did)! She was tired walking it all to the bus stop. We have to walk a 1/2 mile to the bus stop. The first day it was exciting and Nana and Pop drove me home; second day a different story I had to walk home with out my Tori! First day bus came that afternoon at 2:57 pm. Second day I had a client and she left my house at 2:45 pm and I left behind her in my car to pick up Tori. Got there and waited. The bus came at 3:10 pm the opposite way! Ms. Kiki had been early and wouldn't leave her there. So after her route was over she doubled back -- Thank you Ms Kiki!!! We will be there today at 2:50 pm.

Pulling her second tooth

Pulling of the second tooth. She did this the week before school. So she started school with her two bottom teeth out. She was hanging on to that tooth almost like the last.

BTY: tooth fairy gave her $2.00 for the tooth!

First Day of School August 10, 2009

First day at Nickajack Elementary School!!
Would she go? Of course she would. That was never the question. The question was would we make it on time! YES, we did - and we were early to the bus stop.
Nana and Pop even got up early and came all the way from Buckhead to see her get on the bus.

We will try to post more pictures on here and on Facebook. So check us out there also.

She had a great time. I think she was more excited about riding the bus than going to school.

I hope the videos work and you enjoy them.

At 7 AM

Hot day, 90+ degrees at 2:57 pm when she got off bus.

August 6, 2009
Downstairs toilet overflowed gallons of water every where. Lots of ruined stuff.

Maddie meets Miley

Maddie got to meet Miley Cyrus. She had had a previous time at the beach of seeing Miley and a chance to be an extra in the movie. However, the time of filming was not convenient time for Maddie and her family.
Tired long day w/ computers. Longing for my Tori pooh.

Thanks to all of you! I am so lucky to have blessed uplifting people like you in my life. To all the night teachers I will miss you. I promise to visit when I am out that way stuck in traffic. As soon as Victoria is oriented into school life I will try to take on a class. Until then if it is willing of the day staff I will be seen then.

We really enjoyed the cake! The balloon and flowers were a hit with Victoria (and me)!

My sincere appreciation to all of you.

Thanks again. I hope this video conveys to you what I feel for all the teachers and students both those I have had the pleasure of teaching and those that were so friendly to introduce themselves to me even though I was not their teacher.

Week of July 13 -17

Spirit Week
Victoria attended St. Benedict's first VBS. She had a wonderful time. This was the first event for our new church on the new church property in the new church building. It was centered around Recycling and taking care of our earth. Victoria came home telling us she had played with worms! I said " Yeah! you go girl! Dirt never hurt anything!" She also played with frezbies. She enjoyed eating grapes, apples, bananas and goldfish and graham crackers. Made compost, played with worms and bugs. They learned about recycling. They painted hands on papers. They made bags for MUST ministries and necklaces and bug jars for themselves. They also got a shirt that they all wore on Friday. She enjoyed it alot. Thanks be to all the volunteers for Spirit Week and for Courtney Vaughn for her great leadership!

Sunday activities

We started the day off by getting ready for church. Then after church we came home. Nana and Pop was here already. We talked and talked. Then we started getting everything together for dinner. We had rib eye steaks that Dan prepared. We also had baked potatoes, salad, macaroni & cheese and crescent rolls. Then Dan had to take the logs and stump to Courtney at the church. Once he got back home, Dean stopped by on his way back to Savannah. The rains and T&L began.
We are now all lying on the bed watching . . . . . The Parent Trap.

Hope you had a great Sunday!

Another Video by Victoria

Does she have an interviewing bug? No. Does she enjoy being in front of the camera? Yes! Enjoy!

Out of the mouth of Babes

I guess we should start a new post called Victoria's Advice Blog. Play this an you will see why.

Happy Fourth of July (2009)!!!!

Happy Birthday America!
We left Smyrna for Lake Martin in Alabama on Friday (3rd) to meet up with family and friends. We arrived to some wonderful food and drink and fellowship! Catching up with family news and seeing family we haven't seen in a while. Sitting out in the clear air by the lake and listening to nature.

After a good night sleep, we awoke to beautiful nature, sunshine and a lot of lake!!!!
Victoria was eager to get in "the pool" meaning the lake. Jonathan had to gas up the boat and get ice so he offered to take us for a boat ride. He thought Victoria would love it and she did!!!!!

Victoria getting ready for her boat ride.

Here she goes! She is loving the wind. She yells out at Jonathan (Captain of the boat) go faster!!!

Mommy and Victoria enjoying the ride!
She has her Hannah Montana vest on that PaPa gave her.

Jonathan our Captain!

Daddy Dan drinking his water and enjoying the ride.

Chimney Rock

July 1, 2009

Today is the one year anniversary of Grandma's death. Tori had been wanting to go to Tybee and since Grandma is the one who made it happen for the first time it was fitting that we go on the anniversary of her parting from us. We had originally planned to go in the evening however the tides were not right for us so we packed up the car and went in the morning time. We arrived at Tybee around 11 am and went on the beach. Papa and Tori immediately went in the water while I got the blanket and bags settled for a spot. I then joined them. We stayed at the beach for about 3 hours. Needless to say Tori and I got burnt! I didn't feel the pain until 2 days later.
We met some new friends Laney and Jeremy (I hope I spelt their names correctly!) and their mother Aimee and their Aunt Wendy. Laney, Jeremy, Victoria and I played in the water. We also tried to make a sand castle. We stayed until 1:40 pm and then we left.

Tooth Rewards June 26, 2009

There are sweet rewards for loosing a tooth. We told the wait staff what happened in their bathroom and they thought it was a first for their establishment. Then they deliver to Victoria a surprise.

Tooth Loss June 26, 2009

The day came when we would experience the first tooth loss. Victoria and I had went to Papa's in Statesboro to see him. We went out to eat and Dale, Madison and MamMa joined us at Ocean Galley. After some teasing Victoria and Madison went to the bathroom and Madison coerced Victoria into pulling the tooth!! Yeah for Maddie! Victoria was successful! See the video.

A Loose Tooth

Victoria has had a loose tooth for what seems like a year! However now she really does have a loose tooth.

Watch the video and see for yourself!

We went again!! Scot came up from LaGrange and wanted to check out Henry's. Soooooooo we all got in the car and went to Acworth. June 6, 2009

Dan found 3 new places to eat and he wanted to try one of them. We drove to Acworth to check out a place called Henry's. Louisiana style food. Dan had tasted some of the cuisine at a business function. We arrived and there was about a 25 min wait. We sat outside and got to see Henry be escorted away by his wife into a big Lincoln limo -- it was his birthday!!! Once we were inside we waited for our chance to taste the food we had been inhaling. We were seated at the table and our waiter was Adam. He was great!! Wonderful personality and great host! We both had salads and Dan had an appetizer of shrimp and grits while I had the shallow fried scallops. Dan had the ohh lah lah and I had creole. Victoria had chicken fingers and fries. This place is to die for!!!!!
